This is awsome news. I'm still really pissed with the UFC for 1) Putting Andre's last fight on the under card which was a real big dickhead move by Dayna and 2) For letting him go. Andre is an awsome fighter and he's lots of fun to watch. WTF were they thinking. Im just happy to see the dude back.

THE FATHER OF MMA

I'm so lucky to have grown up in a household that was dominated by Martial arts and bolywood movies back in the day thanks to my older brothers. Everyone wanted to be Bruce Lee and I even had the same shoes as a kid. If you re-watch some of his movies today you'll see leg locks, arm bars, chokes etc. This is a tribute to the legend. I definitely wish we had more time with this guy.

Note the guiatine choke at 1:51 he uses to finish off non other than Chuck Norris. Also check out the arm triangle he throws on Kareem Abdul-Jabar at 2:22. The dude he grabs at 2:51 is Jackie Chan.

ELITE XC ON CBS RATINGS HIT 6.5 MILLION

A lot of hardcore fans are not happy with the show. A few early stoppages, Kimbo's fight was weak and the show was too long are just a few of the complaints. I thought it was a typical MMA show for people to see. There are always complaints about an early stoppage here or there and the fact that the fav guy, Kimbo, almost lost is another great thing about MMA that was showcased. Anything can happen! I thought the Lawler fight was good along with Gina's fight. We'll see some good rematches and Kimbo will continue to work on his ground game.

-Brett Rogers calls Kimbo "garbage" at post fight conference here and almost leads to fight.

UFC 84 - I LOVE MMA

So, we watched UFC 84 last night and it was a blast. Most of the guys, and girl, watching had their money on Silva, Penn and Matchida, however due to the fact that anything can happen in MMA you simply could not dismiss names like Sherk, Ortiz and Jardin. The feeling of excitement is almost too hard to describe. Simply put, this is why MMA is so much fun to watch. The event made 3.7mil at the gate, nothing close to the Montreal event which made over 5mil.

On to the show. I'm going to start by saying that I loved seeing Wanderlei win. The beating he put on Jardine was awesome and it would have been fun to see him continue on for a bit more. We all knew Matchida was going to dismantle Tito. The avg fan in North America likely did not enjoy the fight but everyone else in the world along with the hardcore mma fans sure did. There is lots of debate on the net about it but simply put Matchida = 2008 Bruce Lee. How can you hate him. Lastly, BJ came out and he had abs which means he's going to win. Sherk looked a little lost and although his crazy punches were scary, they did very little. BJ also has a crazy chin. COUTURE GETTING CLOSER TO FEDOR BUT DO WE STILL CARE?

So Couture gets a small win in court which brings him closer to Couture but I'm starting to think his time is quickly coming to an end. As much as he hates the UFC, he could have easily finished off two more fights a long time ago and gone his separate way. Don't get me wrong, I think Couture is awesome $hit but all of this is dragging on way too long. More from Cage Potato here

AFFLICTION: BANNED

So Affliction gets popular in MMA via clothing, they start their own fight organization and get banned from the UFC. Their first event is called Banned. Here is the intro vid...looks good.

So MMA just keeps getting more and more popular and now we have ourselves a movie to go watch. Don't get me wrong, we've had our share of MMA movies with the underground Kumate with Bolo being the monster that he is. Anyway, Randy Coutour stars in this movie and I hear it's pretty good. These guys are inspirational. I would definitely love to kick some co-worker a$$. I can relate on some level because been complaining about the loss of "testosterone / manhood" from men working in offices for years. If you work in an office take a look around you. 90 percent of the dudes are as harmless as my 9 year old niece. I'm not down with all the props and outfits they use though. Just stick to good ol fighting dudes.

WHY I LIKE THE ADRENALINE FIGHTING ORGANIZATION

MMAWeekly has this article about Tim Sylvia headlining Adrenaline 2 in September along with some comments from Monte Cox, CEO. After signing with Adrenaline, Tim was able to sign up for a fight with Fedor with the Affliction organization in July. These type of non-exclusive contracts which are a sin in the UFC, allow fighters to go to different organizations and take on the best in the world. This is great for the fighters and the fans as well as it allows some dream matches to take place. Fedor vs. Cotoure would have happened long ago.
